Someone provided me with a Word doc that has some horrible orange color for the page background. I need to edit the document, and want to remove the background color. I have opened the document, gone to Design > Page Color and selected No Color. Background does not change. Also checked Themes, no themes have been applied. I don't have access to the original writer of the document so I need to figure out how to do this. I also tried copying text of the document (via Select All > Copy) and pasting into a new document, however the page formatting came along with it.
Help! ![]() Thanks. BTW I am using Word 2013 but most likely the doc was created in an earlier version (probably either Mac 2011 or Word 2010 in Windows). |

Let's try this:
Open the header and footer (Insert/Header/Edit header [bottom of drop down], or Alt+V,H), select all, delete. If there is an oversize color image creating the issue, that should do it. Did this help? |

![]() That did the trick, and I would NEVER have figured that out on my own. Should be included in the Word online help. Thank you so much! EDIT: Do you have any idea WHY someone would have done it this way instead of applying a Page Background color? Seems so counter-intuitive. (I'm a WordPerfect guy so this type of stuff in Word drives me crazy. ![]() |

Glad I could help. Word requires being something of a detective, and a good detective figures out how the troublemaker thinks. Word doesn't think, but it does behave according to preset rules, and in this case experience is a good teacher.
Enjoy your day. |
